Stars Medical Assistance Center (SMAC) Pain Management Learning Module is designed for all Healthcare Professionals who want to learn more about pain and its management. This module provides information on how to manage the pain across the lifespan from newborn to older population and those who need special care and attention.

  9. Identify appropriate pain relief intervention for selected groups of patients.

  10. Compare various types of neurosurgical procedures used to treat intractable pain.

  11. Develop a plan to prevent and treat the adverse effects of opioid analgesic agents.

  12. Use the nursing process as a framework for the care of patients with pain.
