Stars Medical Assistance Center (SMAC) Basic Wound Care Learning Module is designed for wound care clinicians and other healthcare providers who would like to improve their understanding about the basic proper care of wounds.

 

Wound care is not just a dressing change it needs focussing to provide more care and attention.
SMAC in collaboration with International Inter-professional Wound Care Group (IIWCG) will provide evidence-based, the latest information on wound care healing and prevention to provide effective care to promote rapid healing.  

 

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe and identify the different types of Acute Wounds and traumatic wounds

2. Discuss the strategies to provide first aid and subsequent interventions.

3. Describe care planning considerations and referrals

4. Identify and recognize threats to skin integrity and common diseases of the skin

5. Discuss the prevention and treatment strategies

6. Discuss important components of wound assessment and documentation
